Our Women Helping Women program is a concept devised to help empower women to take action against domestic violence. Within the community, our hope is that local women will be inspired to help support the program through donations of needed items, sponsorship and volunteerism. By supporting this initiative and raising awareness, local women experiencing abuse within our community and district will see that there are resources available to them and hopefully that will assist in the decision to leave their abuser.
Women who help other women are confident, generous visionaries.
Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. is not currently accepting donations for our hamper program. Due to construction of the day shelter facility we are unable to store donated items at this time. Construction materials and financial contributions are our most needed items and very gratefully accepted.
Thank you for your understanding!
Together we can make a difference!
At times, existing women's shelters are running at full capacity and without beds available, women and children looking to leave their abusive environment are put up in hotels until a space opens up.
Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. will provide emergency hampers with basic necessities such as personal hygiene items, diapers and wipes, toiletries and gift cards to women referred to our program who are staying in hotels. This small act of kindness can help alleviate some of the stress being experienced during this scary time by allowing the woman to put her financial resources to other immediate needs.
